Obligatory Puroland Trip
February 25, 2025.

Puroland was a lot further away than I thought it would be, it was about an hour train ride. Koinuko had been to Puroland before, but had a bad experience. I was determined to change that by going on a weekday and going early! And we indeed had an amazing time. The first place we went was obviously the entrance gift shop where we picked up some ears. I picked up a pair of standard pink My Melody ears for myself and a pair of Mewkledreamy ears for Koinuko! Sadly this was the only Mewkledreamy item I saw in Japan ; v ; We also picked up a light stick each.
The first thing we did was go to the Cinnamoroll cafe to get some cute sweets. I got the My Melody & Kuromi anniversary cake (which came with a free postcard!!) and the Cinnamoroll soda. Koinuko got a Hello Kitty cake. The sweets were very cute and very mid. But you're not eating at the Cinnamoroll cafe for the food, you're there for an Instagram photo.
We finished just in time to find good seats to watch the Parade! It was really cute. I don't understand Japanese, but I can understand people in cute costumes and Sanrio mascots dancing to defeat evil. The lightsticks also sync up with each other which is very cool. You can find videos of the parade online if you want to watch it!
I had assumed we would only have time to go on one single ride (the boat ride, which I really wanted to do). But we ended up getting to experience every single ride and activity! First we did the new Cinnamoroll's Great Adventure ride. This was a shooting gallery type ride that had moving seats.
Following this we got in line for the boat ride. I expected this to be the only ride we'd get to go on due to how long the line was. Turns out you can actually skip the line if you agree to go in the back seat of the boat. Apparently most people go on the boat ride purely for the photo so they only want to sit in the front seat and sit in the boat with their favourite character on the front. But screw that, I just wanna see the big flocked Sanrio statues!! The boat ride was adorable!!! Totally magical, I'd love to ride it again someday.
Next we stuck our heads into the Jewelpet store. The store itself was super cute!! But sadly it had all of the exact same stuff as the entrance shop. Oh well. After this we got in line for the My MelRoad Car Ride. The line was scary long so Koinuko was hesitant. But I'm stupidly optimistic so I dragged her into the line. Turns out, the line was long but also super fast!! The ride was cute, but nowhere as cool as the boat ride. I did enjoy taking photos though.
Lastly we went into the Kiki and Lala room to get the photos every single sweet lolita gets when they go to Puroland. Thank you to Koinuko for being so patient with my antics and taking photos for me. This was the final attraction I wanted to look at and it was getting close to closing anyway so we braved the entrance shop one last time. I did some major damage mwahaha.
Once we got out of there, we wandered down Kitty Street towards the train station. The whole street is pretty cute. We bought a whole lot of junk at the Daiso, got some mid tier curry at a self service curry store and went home.
My advice for visiting Sanrio Puroland
- Reserve your ticket ahead of time so that you don't get caught up at the gates.
- Aim to arrive early, a little after opening to avoid the opening rush, but to give you time at the park.
- Go on a less popular weekday such as Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
- If you don't care about being in the first car of the Puroland Boat Ride for photo purposes, let the staff know. They may let you skip the line!
- Don't eat any of the savoury food. All of the food is bad, including the sweet stuff, but at least the sweets won't make you sick.
