Wintertime hobbies

Hello friends! Have you been keeping warm these past few weeks? Or cool I suppose if you live in the northern hemisphere. I've finally had to put my big winter duvet on my bed and the cat has been snuggling up to me most nights. I really enjoy winter. I love all of the seasons, but I do really enjoy getting to snuggle up warm inside and focus on my indoor hobbies. Drawing, sewing, reading, online shopping, baking. It's all so much more fun when it's colder out. I've been really trying my best to get back into drawing recently. I've been forcing myself to doodle just a little bit in a shinny lined notebook every night. It's been hard getting back on the horse but I think I've been making decent progress. I'm kind of wanting to re-do my current art gallery page which is just an embed of my art Instagram. I want to make an actual on-site gallery. Dunno when I'll ever get around to doing that but eh. The desire is there which is something!

I've been doing a lot of driving recently! I'm working really hard on getting my licence. I drove to a town two hours away a few weeks ago to attend a vintage toy fair! Which was incredibly fun, by the way. I got to see soo many cute old girly toys in person!! I picked up the royal clock from Smile Precure and an Alpacasso backpack! Just yesterday I also drove for 40 minutes to a really cute rural destination cafe where I had the best pulled pork nachoes of my life. I've also been practising parallel parking and am. Ok. Ish. At it. Yesterday i had my first formal driving lesson and well I sucked but hey at least I'm trying! Gotta say tho I am unlikely to meet my goal of attempting my restricted before the end of the year.

Once Upon a Frill is under two months away now and damn it all I just can not stop wasting my money instead of saving it. I have done so much online shopping as of late and I'm struggling to not do more. I got my hands on a decent amount of both lolita and BL goodies. On the lolita side I got two GLBs containing Angelic Pretty patterns, a couple of cute Diccha accessories and my first Angelic Pretty x Wish Me Mell collab item! It's the ring from the Whip Mell series! It's in kind of rough condition, but it was cheap so I don't really mind! I also picked up three doujinshi by my favorite Ryokira artist Blacksheep! It was sooo cool to own these and get to read them. Not many people are making doujinshi for this pair anymore and even fewer can I buy their books online internationally. I also picked up a lot of badges of Olivine featuring his birthday illustration from the year before last which is one of my favourite illustrations. I've ordered an ita bag and will be (hopefully) putting it together in time for OUAF! I wanna do oshikatsu with the cool Aussie girls. My fingers are also crossed that my Sleepyland dress will arrive in time. Ahh I'm so excited!!

I guess I can do my media section now, it's my blog and I can talk about things in whatever order I want! I've been obsessed with The Husky And His White cat Shizun recently. I'm partway through book 4 right now and have book 5 on the way. I've actually asked my friends to get me book 6 or 7 for my birthday lol. I LOVE Mo Ran!! He's so dumb and adorable. Yeah sure he's a horrible person but isn't that part of the appeal? Before I started this series I saw so many people say they hated this series because of Mo Ran but it was worth it to read because of Chu Wanning. And while I do adore Chu Wanning, they couldn't be more wrong about Mo Ran. He's literally just a little guy.

I also recently finished Asato's route of Lamento and it has very much cemented that Asato is my favourite kitty cat in the game. I thought their ending was very sweet. Of course Konoe would love Asato no matter what form he took! Would you still love me if I was a worm type shit. Now I just need to play Rai's route and I can finally cross it off my list! I'm on track to achieving my new year's resolution of completing at least one visual novel. God I am bad at this.

Today I finally stopped being a fake lolita and watched Kamikaze Girls. It was just as good as all the hype said it would be. Great movie, super funny, excellent outfits. I totally want to get it on DVD now just to own it. (I have a lot of series I want to own physically nows, maybe I should look at getting a blu ray player...) I'm wanting to start on a journey to watch all of the big lolita films and TV shows, so obviously I started with Kamikaze Girls. Next I'd really like to track down Deka Wanko and X-Cross.

Last week I saw The backrooms at the cinema and it was sooo good. I don't like scary horror. I don't like gore or suffering, but what I do like is creepy, uncomfortable, unsettling themes. And The Backrooms is exactly that. It was so freaky I loved it. I loved that we never found out anything or learned all that much. I love a movie where I learn nothing. It kind of reminded me of a movie I watched as a kid, The Langoliers. If you liked The Backrooms or liminal spaces in general, you might enjoy that. Or not. Who knows I was like 15 when I watched it.

I really want to do some sewing. I've got this really cool lingerie pattern book from 1990 and I'm planning to use some of their pajama patterns! My mum recently gave me some gorgeous deadstock 70s fleece sheets I'm going to use to make a babydoll top and bloomers. Yes I was inspired by Momoko's cute pajamas. I've traced the patterns, now I just need to sit down and make the damn thing. I have a fantasy of wearing my cute new jammie set at the hotel after once upon a frill lol.

I've been weirdly like,, perma sick recently. I think it's the cold, dry, dusty air at my work. Every morning I'm just constantly hacking and coughing and sneezing and wheezing. The air feels dry and sharp in my lungs, it's really not nice. Leaves me feeling really tired too. I'm not really sure what to do about it as I can't just not go to work but it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I just have a weird long slow cold? My voice has been suuper croakey. It was particularly bad this morning, if it's so bad tomorrow morning I might just call in sick and give it another day to settle.

That's about all I have to talk about this month I think. Next blog I should be talking about my birthday! Which is on the 14th of July, by the way. In case you were wondering.
