Happy New Year, everyone! Did we all have a nice Christmas or if you don't celebrate a nice Thursday? I did, I went to visit my parents and we had hotpot for Christmas lunch. I've been having lots of fun in the past couple weeks during the holiday season. Both going to events and hanging out with friends. I've been to two Christmas parades, two Christmas craft markets, a Christmas lights tour and out to dinner with friends a few times. I've also been doing really well on my driving lessons. In the last week I've driven to the river and I now drive to work every morning! I'm also currently in the middle of creating a new lolita JSK. This one I'm designing with going to OUAF in 2026 in mind. It's based on early 2010s late 00s AP solids. You'll get to see it really soon hopefully, I just finished the bodice.
I feel a little weird writing a blog today as I don't have much to talk about. I've just been enjoying my life. But I feel like I have to do at least one last blog before the year ends. This year has had a lot of highs and not too many lows which is always good. Sure, the lows were pretty brutal but they're beaten out by the highs. Highs such as going to Japan, getting a new job, going to my biggest lolita meet yet and starting learning to drive again! I'm pretty happy where I am in my life right now, even if that is a bit behind for my age lol. I try not to compare myself to my peers, but it is hard. I've improved my life so much in the past year but it's tricky when you started out so behind. I guess I'm just hobbymaxxing right now. Lolita and yaoi all the way!!! I got nothing else going on. I actually just obtained another one of my dream lolita items: Usakumya Wants To Be Strawberry Pochette! She's my first ever kumya and she is adorable. I've stuffed her tummy with some old socks to make her look plump and cute as I'll never be using her as an actual bag, just an accessory. The majority of my dresses have pockets anyway. I also ordered a huuge haul of Nitro Chiral anniversary goods from Animate International which will be arriving in the new year.
I've been enjoying a lot of BL adjacent media recently. I've gotten really into the anime Kyou Kara Maoh which is like,, the most anime anime ever. It's so fun. I really want to get those fugly old Yuri and Wolfram plushies. I've also been reading No Money. Yes. That No Money. The manga is way longer than I thought it was and it's apparently still going?? Is it good? Hell no! But it's fun and stupid in a so bad it's good way. Because it is Christmas, I have enjoyed Muppets A Christmas Carol which is the best Christmas movie ever. Did you all see they rebuilt Rizzo the Rat??? Oh my god he lives. I've also started playing Styling Savvy: Styling Star!. And no I did not pull Olivine in the last Oli event. I hate that stupid game.
Somewhat media adjacent, did you all see the latest Angelic Pretty fashion show and upcoming collections??? Wow!! AP is starting to get their sweet groove back! Ok the Into a Dream Carnival is an over designed atrocity (even tho the print and pony bag are cute) but Bunny Ribbon Parfateria and Candy Boquet (idk the actual name but yk the one I'm talking about) are both just delightful! i hope we get closer pictures of the Bunny Parfait jewellery soon. The My Melody collab dress is also cute, but I really do not like the KC so there's no use in me even thinking about it. If I can't get a nice matching KC there's no point. It's a headbow or nothing for me.
In 2026 I have a big holiday planned as you already know, I'll be attending Once Upon A Frill in Melborne in July. But I also have a few other plans for 2026. First and foremost, my biggest goal in the coming year is to get my restricted drivers license. I hate driving, it scares me so much, but I gotta do it. Following that I have some soft goals that I will put into a little list in no particular order.
- Wear my cute clothes more in casual contexts
- Play and finish more visual novels and other video games
- Scroll social media less, replace Twt and Insta with Tumblr and Pinterest. Only use Twt for JP BL.
- Write more letters
- Strength train regularly and consistantly
- Set up an RSS feed
- Continue making things (doesn't matter what, as long as you made it)
but after that I'll come home and continue helping D work on the living room! We're ripping down the old ripped up wallpaper and repainting the walls! I'm so excited to get it done so we can have the lounge back. Oh well.
