Happy (belated) Halloween! I had such an absolutely delightful October!! I started my new job at a thrift store and I love it! It's sooo nice. I work really nice hours, my coworkers are nice enough, I love being in the thrift store and above all else it pays really good. I can afford to live comfortably! It's awesome! I've already picked up some really cool items at my work, like a Juicy Couture purse and the box set of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (which I am yet to watch lol). I'm also getting along really well with the regular customers. I work at the till so I get to see all the cool stuff people buy.

I also keep getting told by people in my life how much happier I look, both out of work and by friends who come to my work. It's kind of crazy just how depressed my old job made me and just how much I'm thriving at my new job after only a month. It's so nice to be treated like a human being at work. Since I work at the counter I'm in charge of the jewellery, high ticket items and R rated DVDs and games! Which means I get first dibs. I also get to put out the books and stationary sometimes which is awesome. I'm in my element.

Outside of work, I've also been having some fun social outings and getting creative stuff done! I went to a really nice spring themed festival in a beach town where I wore lolita, ate a really awesome hotdog and a chocolate banana, purchased some dried flowers and went to an audio visual technology museum!! The museum was so cool!!! It was so cool so see all of the old cameras and record players and TVs. We also got to see some local historic film reels. The festival itself was also quite nice, lots of food trucks but the wares were a little lacking. It was cool how the entire main street of the town was closed off for the fest. It's a small historic town so it was fun to look at all of the buildings.

The another really cool event I went to was a Mad Hatter's Market by the local steampunk society! Set in another historic small town, this market was amazing. It was marketed as a market but it was more of a festival than the spring festival. They had folk dancing, bubble blowers, chalk art, performers, pony rides, a brass band and a fancy historic bus you could ride on! There were also rides on the steam train but we you had to book that in advance. Maybe next year! There were a lot of people in steampunk costumes as well. The wares were great. So many delightful handmade and second hand goods, barely any conslop. I purchased a gorgeous piece of stained glass art of a family of birds. I'm really excited to go back to this market again next year.

I've also gone to a fireworks display for Guy Fawks! It was a really amazing one run by one of our local firefighting services to fundraise. It was beautiful! So many families out on picnic baskets to watch the display. They had some great food trucks too, I got a huuge mussel fritter.
I try not to get political on my website, but I really do hope the current govt gets home use fireworks banned. It would be the one good thing our current backwards ass govt could do. Nothing good comes from home fireworks! People are irresponsible with them, they hurt each other, hurt animals and cause horrific bush fires (like the one currently decimating Tongiraro, what's the bet fireworks caused it) all for home fireworks to not even be that good!! Meanwhile our amazing, underfunded fire service can create breathtaking choreographed displays as community events and fundraisers. Actually a rare Winnie win?? I guess a broken clock is right twice a day...

As some of you may have noticed, I released this year's volume of Milk & Honey lolita fashion zine. I was pretty late getting this out this year, but at least I got it done. I'm still working on the physical copies. Not that that matters to anyone reading this as I refuse to ship to anywhere outside of New Zealand and like maybe Australia if you ask me really nicely. Just download the PDF man. I've also made the decision that next year's zine will be the last one. The content well is drying up and I'm getting bored of it. Five years is more than enough I think. Also there are a lot more movers and shakers in the NZ lolita scene than there were before I started this project. It feels like a good time to pass the title of "the zine lady" on to someone else.

I've also been getting really back into sewing and baking! Crazy how not being depressed as hell makes you want to do stuff. I finally re make my iconic pink gingham dress that I've drawn my persona wearing for the last five years. My original dress I made a lot of mistakes as I was still learning. I also used cheap as fuck shitty polycotton fabric that was pretty much transparent. For the new dress I used a very nice 100% cotton fabric that is soft, comfortable and most importantly you can't see my perreronis n it. I have some more ideas for dresses using vintage patterns floating around as well. I also want to make some skirts for work during summer as I'm allowed to wear whatever clothes I want!

In terms on media- I've been playing a lot of Style Savvy. I love playing dress up!! I've been putting on a YouTube video and snuggling up and playing for an hour or so. I've been watching a lot of Kiana Docherty recently. Her video on ultra sugary coffee drinks has made me feel weird about drinking sweet lil drinks which is probably a good thing lol. I've actually been trying out different milks to go in my tea. My daily tea of choice is earl grey. I tried almond, oat and soy and I found soy was my favourite (unsurprisingly) followed by oat and them almond. I found oat was better in tea but almond was better for drinking straight.

I've also started playing Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1st Love and have started Hakase's route in Hashihime of Old Book Town. Hakase is so cute... I'm very confused about Tokimeki but I'll get there eventually lolol. I've also been to a few movie nights for Halloween! Here's a short summary of the movies I've seen.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Saw this in the theater for an event. Really fun!! I loved the music and the costuming. I wish I'd seen this film earlier.
But I'm A Cheerleader: Megan is so cute, I loved this movie. It got a little rough at parts but the campness and happy ending were so worth it. Also there's a kiwi actor in this!
The Ruins: Fucking awful movie. Worst final girl I've ever seen. I'm on the side of the natives and their outstanding commitment to biosecurity
Fear Inc.: This movie was awesome from start to almost finish. I was pretty let down by the ending, it felt like a bit of a cop out. But other than that this was so fun. I hated the MC and enjoyed seeing him suffer. The ending was too kind to him.
I Survived A Zombie Holocaust & Deathgasm: These were both rewatches for me. Two of my teenage favourite movies!!! They're both kiwi black comedies about zombies. Deathgasm especially hits close to home as it feels very relatable to how myself and many of my friends grew up. I highly recommend the both of them. My friend Serena donated a lot to the Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon kickstarter so we're all very excited to have a big watch party when her copy of the DVD arrives.

Well! That's about all I have to report. It's getting close to the Christmas season, so if you're interested in doing a Christmas card exchange with me please email me ASAP so we can get that into motion! And good luck pulling for Oli in the new NuC event uhuhuhu

Until next time!

Gurgle gurgle... the liquid inside the pot seemingly comes to life, making mysterious bubbling sounds 🫧
Master Eiden, in the form of a puppet, breaks out in a cold sweat— This concoction... I don't have to drink it, do I?
